The journal, Children and Youth Services Review, has published on- line "Empowerment-based non-formal education for Arab youth: A pilot randomized trial". The article is the result of a collaborative effort in 2009-2010 with Oxford University, Questscope and the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The randomized trial of youth empowerment is the first of its kind in the Middle East. Youth empowerment has grown globally as an intervention strategy in social services for improving adolescent outcomes. This pilot study in Jordan is the first in the Middle East to assess the effects of youth empowerment programming on developmental assets and behavioral difficulties for out-of-school youth.
